» Hawk's Pedigree and Genetic Information

Nine-year old Hawk is owned by Alice Xander. The two of them have focused their efforts in the field and have met with great success. Hawk is a Hunter and was a finalist at the 2003 Master National in Georgia and has qualified for the 2004-2006 Master Nationals. He is extremely fast on land and water and hits the water hard. He exudes quiet confidence and character. He has a true golden temperament -- friendly to people and dogs of all kinds. He lives with other intact males and bitches and they get along with no tension at all. Hawk is lovely and calm in the house but is ready to hit the ground running once he knows he is going to work. He is throwing this on-off switch in his kids, in addition to his excellent marking and nose.

Although Hawk has not done obedience, his pedigree and relatives succeeded in that venue. He is Soupy's (OTCH High Times Belvedere's Duck Soup UDX MH ***) half brother and has other UD, MX, MXJ half siblings. His dam's brother was OTCh High Times Can't Touch This UDX MH WCX (OS).

Hawk is light in bone standing 23" tall and weighing 68 pounds. He has excellent shoulder layback and balance between his front and rear angulation. He has a very strong topline with a correct tail set and carriage. He has average forechest and upper arm. He has clean movement when viewed from any direction and has excellent reach and drive from the side. He has full dentition but does have an even bite. He has good pigment although his nose fades in the winter. He has a nice dark eye that is correctly shaped as well as a correctly sized and placed ear. His head is pleasant but he could use more all-around -- breadth and depth of skull and muzzle with a little more stop. He is medium gold with a slightly wavy working coat -- minimal feathering.

Hawk is 9 years old but acts and looks like a much younger dog. He is OIH Good with a normal heart and eyes. His pedigree is strong in health and longevity. Hawk's father, Rooster, is alive and well at 12 1/2. He is active and healthy except for being hard of hearing now. Hawk's dam, Karma died at 14 years of age. Karma's brother, Hammer made it at least to 14 if not 15.

"Hawk is one awesome marking dog. He is fast and intense; people say it is fun to watch us work as a team. I'm not sure because I'm always busy trying to stay one step ahead of him. From the time we started in Master, he definitely has kept me on my toes. When we qualified for the Master National I was ecstatic but when we finished the Master National in Georgia, I knew we had fulfilled a dream.

Hawk is nice and quiet in the house but when asked to work he knows his job and does it with the desire and enthusiasm of a great athlete. He has that wonderful Golden nose that also makes him a great hunter."
